What was your most movie-like moment from GuildWars?
You know, when coincidences align so that the situation develops a sort of drama that transcends mere gaming fun and becomes an epic. Here's mind:
I was in the Shiverpeaks for the first time today, working on a mission in the Iron Horse Mines vicinity, and I was supposed to kill some boss-thing (as usual). All I had with me was a pet and a few henchies, and things were going okay until I started hitting TAB and saw the boss character was just around the corner. He was a lvl14 and I was a weak lvl12, so I expected bad things. It only got worse when I rounded the bend and saw those HUGE Summit Rider things; this was the first time I'd ever fought anything that wasn't on foot, and my jaw dropped when I saw what I was up against.
After some extremely chaotic fighting we took down his cohorts, and then it took a few minutes to break through his Healing Signet cycle and take him down, inch by inch. What with the Ground Stomp, the roars from the animals, and the nukes everywhere from the Elementalist henchie, it was a pretty awesome fight.
After we killed him, everyone in the party was down at bare minimum health; the healer was dead for good and I had already used my rez sig; next thing I know about five of those Snow Effins come rushing at us - right out of the gloom like Lord of the Rings or something.
I was the only one alive at the end of it all. Even my pet, Lolcat, died.

Just one, I think. I was duking it out with some Charr in the Charr homelands and the battle music was playing. The battle lasted for over a minute because we kept aggroing more foes so the battle music played even longer. But this particular battle music (Iron Footfalls) is soooo awesome that it gets really awesome-sounding at over a minute. It sounds so epic and hearing that music while battling it out in a loooong battle was just too awesome. It's pretty much proof that contextual music and sound that responds and adjusts to the player is extremely important.

I was fighting my guild mate, Warrior To Warrior. We both had Shield Bash Equipped, and both used attack skills right after the other activated it, note we activated at nearly the same time.

I've gotten that 'movie' feeling often. Mostly in missions. The pressure of accomplishing them, as well as some of the unusual tasks involved, can create good drama.

when i was fighting galrath lol. Back when i was a noob, the rest of the party died because they aggro'ed verata, i ran through - killed the bandits with my leet HH paladin. Then fought a 20 minute battle against Galrath(on the top of a hill with the castle in the background)- eventually managing to kill him . I remember feeling like a hero and everyone saying well done lol. Good times...good times...

It was back in the day when Prophecies was the only one out... I was playing on my original character Dram Storgrad a W/Mo...
I was up in the shiverpeask trying to finish the last mission in order to get the Ring Of Fire... I was lucky enough to get a full grp of ppl to try and take on Thunderhead Keep... We were an awesome team nothing stood in our way...
We got to the point were we have to hold the fort from Murasaat and Stone Summit waves... We made it all the way through it and were waiting for the boss to come at us... We waited, and waited, and waited but no boss... So we were using the best vantage points from inside the fort to search for the missing boss... Finally I was able to spot him and his pals, but there were just sitting out in the middle of nowhere...
So me being the leader of the grp told every1 to hold there positions and get ppl on the Balistas on the right side of the base... They were all like "???" ... So I told them that I was going to pull them to us...
So every1 got in position, and I ran out into the open field to get the boss to follow... And within a few seconds it worked, so I ran back within the bladt radius of the Balistas and Stood there while my team barraged them with the mighty siege attacks... But the problem was that they kept running back to there original spots, so I kept up the tactic and we slowly killed all him pals... So when he was by himself and I pulled my team was like come back to us, you will surely die if you stay there and take the dmg...
But me being a galant hero I said no and told them to keep up the siege attacks... Eventually I surrcomed to the dmg and died, but within a few secs so was he... So we won the battle, at the cost of my life...
And tragically thereafter I decided to delete Dram Storgrad, and make a female warrior instead... Thus I have always proclaimed that Dram Storgrad was killed in a valant effort to protect those in his grp on that fatal mission...
But ironically I decided that the female warrior that was going to take his place, was in fact Dram Storgard's younger sister Lyssa Storgrad... And thus she was to avenge her brothers death...

The synapse of a moment where when the Nightmares remove my enchants in the Underworld, and an Aatxe is about to hit me - I get Protective Spirit back on just before he hits me.. I wonder how It's possible to react that fast sometimes, but I have done it many many times lol. Just felt movie/epic like and I wish I could slow-motion it.

That and,
way before Factions was released we were trying various builds to dominate HoH with (now HA) with guildies. And we were running this build that day which we had thought was ingenious then. (The build being winter spam with mantra of frost ) good ol' times...
/sigh
So anyway after winning the first round we had proceeded to the Burial Mounds map (when that map was still a 6 team deathmatch) and defeated the first enemy team, only to realize that we were up against 2 korean teams, which ganked a european team half a minute ago just like that. So we decided to fall back to our base at once (on TS) and try and defend ourselves against the gankers there. We all knew we had no chance 8vs19 but, /resign was going to be added more than a year later and we came too far to rush and die.
So they gathered up before the entrance (reminds me of the LotR 3) and we started skirmishing =) Then they came swarming through the gate, and we all activated our mantras. It was a battle I still remember vividly, they rushed to us like a tsunami to a fishing village only to be countered by the damage reducing wavebreaker of the irremovable (noone used WB then=) ) mantra... they were like fiery beasts trying to hunt in a snowstorm. (at least thats how I want to imagine it). We had stood our ground for a long time, until our last breath. They won that day, no Gandalf to save us with a bright army of more europeans =) but it was the first time I saw koreans say GG to us.
Was truly epic for me.

There are so many epic moments in this game that it's hard to remember them all.
Being swarmed by Afflicted, coming from all sides in Vizunah Square, not knowing when reinforcements are going to arrive. Not knowing how much longer you can hang on when the monk suddenly announces that he's dangerously low on energy and you have a sneaking suspicion that a boss is going to come with the next wave. All that's really missing from that is a proper piece of backing music

While working toward Tyrian GMC (when Arenas were inaccessible but still counted), I was working through the Charr camp in Great Northern Wall. I climbed the hill and suddenly found myself on the Edge of the World. The shadows cast just so that it looked epic.

After killing the last boss necessary for Elite Skill Hunter, I stood behind his dead and exploited corpse, then activated the cap sig and leveled up. Transcendant is the resulting shot:

My final movie-like moment was the first time I faced the Doppelganger. I was running a "Necro Tank" build that used some axe adrenaline skills, Blood Renewal, Demonic Flesh, and some Vamp spells to work (quite effective, honestly). I hadn't gotten the memo that bringing self-healing in any form isn't intelligent. I went in and beat the Doppelganger in exactly 50 seconds, first try, purely by running the build better than the AI could. "On top of the world" gets close to my feeling of euphoria after that.

my first time in vizunah square, boy was i unprepared for that, went in there solo with henchies and made it all the way to the last spawn point of mobs before the "boss"/cutscene area, unfortunately togo died before i could get there, but while it lasted itwas sheer madness, cutting down afflicted left and right.

Yeah, Vizunah Square is one of my movie like moment. I'd already got masters on the mission, but I went back in to explore a small corner I missed while trying to rush through.
This time, I got paired up with someone from local, an assassin. We went alright through the first fight. But when we reached the second area, halfway through the fight, he died. This, of course, meant that all his henchies started mourning him, and they refused to go on. So, I decided to try by myself, with Talhkora, Olias, and another hero I can't remember. It might have been Zenmai, since I decided I wanted a native hero to go through the story.
It was tough. It was long. We almost died. But we made it through. Having an MM and two barrage rangers probably helped a lot (Zenmai was running a Critical Barrage build). Anyway, we finally reached the last area, with the Shirokin, and we went straight for him. We managed to out damage the healing from the enemy monk, and killed him. Unfortunately, we missed masters reward by a couple of minutes. The other guy was happy enough, though, and even complimented me by saying that was the most amazing thing he'd ever seen.
